The Spinal Flow® Technique
What is the Spinal Flow® Technique?
The Spinal Flow Technique is a relatively new, gentle healing modality Developed by former chiropractor Carli Axford, Backed by years of expertise in the body and its natural ability to heal. This technique has shown outstanding results, helping individuals overcome a wide range of physical, chemical, and emotional blockages that contribute to stress, illness, and disease.
Practitioners use light, specific touches (no adjustments or manipulation) along certain access points of the spine, mainly in the sacrum and the cranium. These points cue the nervous system to recognise and release stored tension and stress. When this stress and tension is released from the spine, the body is connected to its innate intelligence to heal itself.
Unlike chiropractic, which focuses more directly on structural alignment, SFT emphasises clearing stress patterns and allowing the nervous system to return to a state where the body can self-heal

what to expect during a spinal flow session.
During your first visit, your Spinal Flow practitioner will take time to review your health history form with you. They’ll carry out a posture and gateway assessment, then discuss their findings in relation to any emotional, physical, or chemical blockages that may be present. Together, you’ll go over a recommended treatment plan to support your body’s natural healing process.
In each session, you’ll be invited to lie fully clothed on a massage table, usually on your stomach, with soft bolsters placed under your pelvis to gently support your body and assist its natural flow. Your practitioner will then use very light touch on specific access points along your sacrum and cranium. These points signal the nervous system to release stored tension and activate its own healing pathways. The touch is extremely gentle, yet it often initiates powerful changes within the body.
As your nervous system begins to respond, you may notice your body moving in a gentle, wave-like motion. This “spinal wave” can feel like subtle rocking, twitching, or shaking. Some people experience little visible movement but notice inner shifts such as warmth, tingling, or a deep sense of calm. Every body is different, and each session is unique.
Excluding the initial visit, which includes both a consultation and session and takes about one hour, regular Spinal Flow sessions are typically around 30 minutes long. Their purpose is to help your body release stored stress, tension, and trauma so your system can reset. This process supports natural alignment, restores energy flow, and creates a greater sense of balance and ease.
Afterwards, many people describe feeling lighter, deeply relaxed, more grounded, or emotionally clearer. Sometimes old emotions may surface as part of the body’s processing, and in some cases there may be temporary tiredness or a flare-up of symptoms. These are considered normal signs of the healing response as your nervous system adjusts.
At the end of your session, your practitioner will share what they noticed shifting in your body. To support the process, it’s recommended that you go for a light walk — even just five minutes — to encourage further release, and drink plenty of water to help flush your system.
For comfort, please wear loose-fitting clothing to your appointments and avoid jeans.
